Frequently asked questions

Is CQ73 free?
Yes. Everything runs in your browser with no sign-up, and your progress is saved on your device.
How long does it take to learn Morse code?
With 10–20 minutes a day, most learners can copy the whole alphabet at a comfortable speed within one to three months. Short daily sessions work best.
Do I need a Morse key or a radio?
No. The space bar, the arrow keys or a touch screen are enough to start. Many operators learn this way before getting on the air.
Which method does CQ73 use?
The Koch method — start with two characters at full speed and add one at a time — combined with Farnsworth spacing, the approach most CW instructors recommend.
